ABOUT THE BALTIMORE RESTAURANT RELIEF FUND
The Baltimore Restaurant Relief Fund was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated shutdown of the restaurant and hospitality industry in Maryland. Our vision is to provide for Baltimore area restaurant workers, sustain local small business and otherwise mitigate the severe economic consequences of this global pandemic.
ABOUT THE “FEED THE INDUSTRY” INITIATIVE
Our goal with The Baltimore Restaurant Relief Fund (BRRF) “Feed The Industry” Initiative is to facilitate a chain of giving that financially supports Baltimore City restaurants while also helping to feed unemployed or underemployed restaurant industry workers.
With the funds donated to the “Feed The Industry” Initiative, BRRF will coordinate the purchasing of meals from Baltimore City restaurants to feed unemployed or underemployed restaurant and service industry workers, currently being affected by tightened COVID-19 restrictions.
Through its website and Facebook Group, BRRF will open applications for restaurants willing to participate in the “Feed The Industry” Initiative. Each restaurant will be given a budget of $1500 to produce 100 meals at $15/meal. Once restaurant participants are solidified, BRRF will open up a sign-up for meals so that the 100 meals can be tracked for each restaurant location. We will begin with two meals during the week and one during the weekend to spread the initiative from January - February. With the hope to extend this initiative as funding opportunities continue.
By creating this chain of giving through the Baltimore restaurant industry, we can give restaurant owners much needed revenue during this time as well as help to sustain restaurant industry workers, from chefs to servers to dishwashers, who are also struggling during this time.
